November 20, 1914 - February 1, 2017
Alice Leah Crabtree was born on November 20, 1914 on her family’s homestead in Cheyenne County Kansas. She grew up on her family’s farms with 2 sisters and two brothers, one who died at age 2. She lived within 20 miles of her birthplace until she was into her 60s. She completed her bachelor's degree at the age of 52 and her Master's Degree in Library Media three years later. In the late '70s she moved to Colorado to teach school at Granada, then became a Librarian at Lamar Community College.
She raised a family of 5 children on the farm she and her husband Richard Gregory bought in 1940. Their farm was about 4 miles from her birthplace.
She and Rich retired to Tucson Arizona in the early 1980s. He passed away in 1995 and she continues to enjoy her church, reading and living in her own home. Her love of books, music, nature and her love for Jesus has kept her mind active for over 100 years. She is the picture of health which she attributes to a vegetarian diet and positive attitude.
She is loved and admired by her family and many friends, some of whom surrounded her at her 100th birthday party in November 2014.
I hope you will enjoy the story of her life.
